Carquinez Strait is a tidal strait between Crockett and Vallejo at the north end of San Pablo Bay, draining the entire Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta into San Pablo Bay and the rest of San Francisco Bay. The tide is mixed semidiurnal, with a mean range of 3.66 ft (1.12 m) at the Port Chicago station at the eastern end of the strait.

Notable
The Carquinez Bridge (twin spans of 1927 and 1958, with the older replaced in 2003) carries Interstate 80 across the strait at its western end, and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge (1962 and 2007) carries Interstate 680 at its eastern end (Caltrans / Bay Area Toll Authority).
