This page explains how users can delete their Wavemaps app account and how data, including location data, is handled.

‍How to delete your Wavemaps account

Users can delete their Wavemaps account directly from within the mobile application:
Wavemaps App → Settings → Client Support → Delete Account

Deleting your account permanently removes your user profile and associated data from our systems.

‍Data that is deleted when you delete your account
When an account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed: user identifier, email address and authentication credentials, user profile information, saved preferences and settings, identifiers linked to the account, and location information.

‍Location data usage and control
Wavemaps may request access to your device’s location in order to provide location-based features. Location access is optional and requires explicit user permission. Users can deny location. Location access is managed entirely through the device’s operating system. Wavemaps does not continuously track users in the background. Location data is not stored permanently on Wavemaps servers.

If location access is granted, users can control or revoke this permission at any time through their device’s system privacy settings.

‍How to revoke location access
Location permissions can be changed at any time through your device settings:

‍Android: Settings → Location → Wavemaps
‍iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wavemaps
(this may vary depending on the device, please verify your specific device documentation)

If the app does not appear in the location permissions list, this means that location access is currently disabled or has not been granted.

‍Data retention
‍Account deletion is processed immediately. Any residual system backups are deleted within 90 days. Wavemaps does not retain personally identifiable information after account deletion.
